Although this program runs on a pocket computer it retains a large number of the capabilities of the desktop version:
Supports PPC2002, PPC2003, WM5 Pocket PC's including VGA models.
Requires 64mb main memory for the program and serial capability for communication with a GPS. Most HP/IPAQ Pocket PC's have a serial port with Garmin™ GPS cables fairly readily available.
map images can be loaded from the desktop, limited only by the storage capacity of your Pocket PC. Typically this will be onto a SD or CF card
the map can be panned by dragging with the stylus or using the direction keypad.
Pocket Freshmap has the same comprehensive built-in search feature. Search for places, roads or user features using the same 'search as you type' capability as the desktop.
Pocket Freshmap has its own user feature database in the same way as the desktop version. Search and manage user features using thge same powerful search filters.
Upload features from the desktop or you can make your own using touchscreen drawing tools similar to the desktop. You can record notes with your user features and download changed or new features back to the desktop program.
Split and join tracks and convert them to navigation routes the same as the desktop.
Move waypoints by dragging them with the stylus.
Supports maps as well as lat/lon coordinates.
Transfer waypoints, tracks and routes to and from a Garmin™ GPS with a serial port.
Track your current position with any serial GPS that supports NMEA.
Note: No maps are included with Pocket Freshmap. Freshmap Topo and Street is required to upload and supply maps.
